Desire NOLA was founded in 2005 by a group of young community leaders committed to rebuilding the Greater New Orleans area
by assisting small businesses. In 2015, the Desire NOLA team - comprised of former Desire NOLA board members, volunteers, partners and grant recipients - is organizing a Civic Entrepreneurship Contest to continue the founding mission of the organization by encouraging civic leadership development through community project development and implementation.
The Desire NOLA team is looking to award grants of at least $100,000 to the Civic Entrepreneurship contest winner(s). In order to accomplish this, they are implementing the following fundraising initiatives:
- Program sponsorship
- DesireNOLA T-shirts - Beginning July 1, 2015, DesireNOLA will outsource T-shirt sales to a a local, New Orleans start-up business who will manage production, inventory management, shipment and ancillay related issues. The sales goal will be to sell 20,000 in nine months.
- Civic Entrepreneurship Contest Ceremony - In the spring of 2016, a ceremony will be held to honor the contest winner(s). This event will be designed as a fundraiser and a vehicle for sponsorship opportunities and ticket revenue
