Community Impact

Desire NOLA was founded in 2005 by a group of young community leaders committed to rebuilding the Greater New Orleans Area by assisting small businesses. Word quickly got out, and over 100 volunteers and board members assisted with various project and fundraisers. Through fundraising efforts, a sponsorship program, and T-shirt sales, Desire NOLA raised over $250,000.

With the money raised, Desire NOLA was able to award over 40 recovering small businesses with grants.

Through grants and programs, the money raised had a direct economic impact of over

$1,000,000

in 2006-2007.

As we approach 10 years post Katrina, it is hard to comprehend how far we have come and yet how far we have to go as a city. The Desire Nola 10 year project is designed to inspire and motivate those who want to get involved with sick with civic engagement and are looking for a vehicle to accomplish their dreams of bettering our City. And just as before, it is very easy to support this effort by simply purchasing a Desire Nola T-shirt and showing your support for this cause in our great City.
